That was our first tour to the Himalayas.
We went to the border region of India/Nepal.
In this part of the Himalayas we were fishing in three different rivers at about 400 m above sea level.
From the very first minute, the tour revolved around one fish, the mysterious Golden Mahseer.
A fish that looks like a unique mixture of barbel and carp, but lives as a predator and sometimes in extreme currents.
The fish is only found in a few countries in the world, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal.
We were there for a full 10 days and, apart from one day, only fished with a spinning rod.
The fishing is similar to salmon fishing in large rivers or extreme spin fishing for Payara in the wild rivers of South America.
The season for this strictly protected species of fish is extremely short. It is mainly influenced by the spawning migration of fish, up to 2600 m above sea level and the water level of the mighty Kali River.
