That was our first tour to the Himalayas. Our target destination was the border region of India/Nepal, where we were fishing in three different rivers at about 400 m above sea level.
Right from the start, our tour revolved around one fish, the mysterious Golden Mahseer.
A fish that looks like a unique mixture of barbel and carp, but lives as a predator, sometimes in extreme currents.

This glamorous fish is only found in a few countries in the world, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal. We stayed there for a total time of 10 days and, except for one day, only fished with a spinning rod.

The fishing is similar to salmon fishing in large rivers or extreme spin fishing for Payara in the wild rivers of South America. The season to fish for this strictly protected species of fish is extremely short. It is mainly influenced by the spawning migration of fish, up to 2600 m above sea level and the water level of the mighty Kali River.
